The Fight For Survival - Africa Wildlife Documentary The Kalahari Desert is a large semi-arid sandy savannah in southern Africa prolonging 900,000 square kilometres (350,000 sq mi), covering considerably of Botswana and also parts of Namibia - formerly South West Africa - and South Africa. A semi-desert, with massive systems of exceptional grazing after great rainfalls, the Kalahari sustains a lot more animals and also plants than a true desert, such as the Namib Desert to the west. There are percentages of rainfall and also the summertime temperature level is quite high. The driest areas often receive 110-- 200 millimetres (4.3-- 7.9 in) of rainfall each year, and also the wettest merely a little over 500 millimetres (20 in). The bordering Kalahari Container covers over 2,500,000 square kilometres (970,000 sq mi) prolonging further into Botswana, Namibia and also South Africa, and also encroaching into parts of Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Kalahari is the home of many migratory birds as well as pets. Formerly havens for wild animals from elephants to giraffes, as well as for killers such as lions and cheetahs, the riverbeds are now mainly grazing areas, though leopards as well as cheetahs could still be discovered. Hooray for the hyenas; snuffing that filthy baby elephant! One would rather the bull elephants had gored it to death or trampled it to paste. All the same, a slow metamorphosis into hyena shit was a particularly poetic end for the miserable little bastard.

Gold Fox Says:
Stop judging these WILD animals by human standards. They do what they need to survive and pass on their genes, and that's not always right in our eyes.

Remember that the hyenas need to eat and have their place in the natural cycle, and one dead baby that was constantly being rejected is in no way more important then an entire pack of hyenas.

Of course, it is only natural for us to feel sad. It is a baby after all. But the hyenas also have babies of their own.

After watching this video yesternight, it is difficult for me to stop thinking about the elephant calf. I genuinely hoped that it would be adopted by the other elephants it encountered. For those studying zoology, I would be interested in hearing reasons as to why the adult elephants in the video, especially the females, rejected the elephant calf.

Gary Price Says:
Oh no! If this is the documentary that shows the Hyenas eating that little baby elephant I cant watch it. Just watching the video. I seen one where Hyenas were chewing up the little baby and had even chewed down his snout. If this starts showing that I'll stop the video.I't was utterly Heartbreaking. It takes a lot to make me really emotional but that one I almost Balled witnessing that. I'll keep watching it FOR NOW.But if I see that again I really would begin crying. I have a hard time watching The Abused Animal Commercials.I agree with your comment CeceSilk.
